Message Level Response (MLR) removed from Peppol ID wizard
The wizard for the initial configuration of a Peppol ID for receiving and sending (bidirectional) has been changed:
Previously, the wizard prompted you during configuration to enter the Message Level Response (MLR) as the reception capability.
The background was that MLR provides the recipient with status information about the reception process – in particular in the case of compliance errors that occur during validation.
The request for MLR in the wizard has now been removed, as it will be replaced in the medium term by the extended status feedback between service providers (Message Level Status – MLS).
Note: If required, MLR can still be configured manually as a reception capability.

Simplified registration of document types and capacities
The configuration for “Document Types” has been simplified. The “Transport Protocol” is no longer requested during setup, since there is always only one valid profile, which is now set by default in the background.
This means that configuration is now limited to selecting the desired “Document Profile” together with its corresponding “Process Profile”. If multiple process profiles are available, one or more can be selected as usual. However, at least one “Process Profile” must always be assigned to each “Document Profile”.
This change applies to both the wizard and the individual configuration via the “Document Profile” tab on the right-hand side:

New Option: Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 as an alternative to XRechnung in Germany
Since February 2025 it is possible to use Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 instead of XRechnung 3.0 (UBL).
With the integration of XRechnung requirements into Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, both formats are now considered content-equivalent. This means Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 and XRechnung can be used interchangeably for e-invoicing in Germany.
